Jarrah is a unique premium quality Australian hardwood grown exclusively in the South West of
Western Australia. Its rich colour and beautiful grains have long made it a highly prized
timber throughout the world, particularly in the manufacture of high quality furniture.
Higher value Jarrah is produced after green timber is air-dried in a suitably
controlled environment for up to three years. The price premium for air-dried timber is
currently around 75% over green timber.
The Western Australian government recently halved the quota of Jarrah available for
harvest under its new forest management plan to be administered by the FPC (Forest Products
Commission) and implemented from January 2004. This new quota is down from levels that
industry sources have already claimed to be too low. The FPC has concluded that as a result
of the new management plan, the price of Jarrah will most certainly rise. (see FPC Web Site).
Jarrah Select has secured a long-term contract to source premium "select" grade
green Jarrah timber from a Western Australian sawmill operated by Phoenix Forest Products Pty Ltd.
Extremely efficient milling processes guarantee the highest grade of timber. Government and
environmentalist groups alike have enthusiastically supported Phoenix's milling practices and
sourcing of the raw material.
Jarrah Select has purpose built storage facilities for air drying Jarrah timber and
is establishing a timber marketing business with a portfolio of local and overseas customers.
Jarrah Select will arrange the purchase of green Jarrah timber and manage its storage
and air-drying on behalf of clients.
Jarrah Select offers a unique service whereby a minimum re-purchase price for the timber
is guaranteed so your capital is assured.
Significant returns for the client are anticipated based on the existing premium of dried
timber over green, the likely price rise due to product shortage created by Government policy, and
the ever-increasing market value of Jarrah.
